WIP Wednesday

Today's task, to finish up the binding on my pumpkin quilt!  I'm so excited to get this one finished!

And how is this for binding math- I ended up with 4" leftover.  I'm actually impressed I even had this much leftover, I only had a fat quarter of this fabric and was pretty sure I could make it work without making bias binding.  I was right, but just barely!

  1. Hurray for only 4 inches of binding left! Magic!! I have that machine as well...do you ever have tension issues with FMQ on this machine? Sometimes I think it's just me and then sometimes I blame the machine. lol

    1. Yes! Definately have had issues with the tension during fmq. I did better on this quilt that on my last one. I was really trying to focus on getting my hands and foot (foot pedal) to work at the same speed and that seemed to help a lot- I don't I have any extra loops on the back of my quilt this time(!). I don't know if it helped or not, but I also bought a Supreme Slider and used that while fmq this quilt. As for the bobbin thread showing up on the front (those annoying little dots), I still haven't found a fix for that. I just use a busy backing now and match my thread and bobbin to the front of my quilt and not worry so much about it showing on the back. It all blends in with a the busy back :)

    1. Thank you! Wish I could take credit for that calculation, but it was pretty much pure-dumb-luck mixed with a hope-and-a-prayer :)

  3. What a cute little quilt! Love the quilting and binding. I always over calculate my binding, I find having little scraps are perfect for doll quilts and mug rugs.

    1. Oh I have plenty of extra bindings from doing the exact same thing! I don't think I have ever calculated binding this well before (and doubt it will happen any time again soon :)
