WIP Wednesday

It's the Great Pumpkin(s)!

Once again I was inspired by a Pin- http://pinterest.com/pin/207024914090401810/- I thought it was a such a fun quilt for the Fall with all the pumpkins on it.  Yeah... apparently the name of the quilt is Fresh Squeezed, as in citrus/oranges.  But with a simple little modification, the elimination of a leaf and addition of a stem, it becomes pumpkins!  At least, I hope it does :)

I started this last year, then lost interest after Halloween.  Now I am getting into a Fall state of mind and enjoying going through some old WIPs and finishing them up in time for the season this year.  I still need to add the white border to either side of this little quilt top, then I can baste it and quilt it.  I'm thinking of getting creative with the quilting- green loops, maybe some leaves, in the white spaces above the pumpkins to look like vines that the pumpkins are growing on, on the pumpkins I am thinking of trying to mimic the lines/ridges on a pumpkin, and - inspired by Angela Walters latest piece of advice to "make a rule, then break the rule" - quilt one pumpkin with a jack-o-lantern face.  Really hoping this turns out as cute in real life as it looks in my head.

  1. This is adorable. I wonder if I could adapt it to be pears. My sister is in love with pears, and a wall hanging would be perfect for her.

    1. Thank you! I'm sure it could be adapted for pears. Maybe a sqished, ovalish snowball block topped with a longer half snowball block...

    1. Thanks! I have to admit, I'm pretty excited by the jack-o-lantern idea too - actually makes me happy that I did not finish this last year, as that idea never occured to me then.

  5. Adorable! How cute to quilt a face on one of the pumpkins. I haven't begun to think about Fall but it is just around the corner isn't it?

    1. Thanks! I like to think Fall is just around the corner, but down here it won't really come until Novemberish (if we are lucky) - fall decorating is the best I can do to get in the spirit of the Season!

    1. Thank you! I started the quilting today. So far the pumpkins look cute, I'm a bit worried about quilting with green thread on the white though- nowhere to hid mistakes there!
